About
Meg Bourbonniere recently joined the faculty of Yale School of Nursing to contribute clinical gerontology and health services research expertise to students and faculty in all programs. She was previously on the faculty of Brown University's Department of Community Health in the multidisciplinary Center for Gerontology and Health Care Research.
Nursing is Dr. Bourbonniere's second career. As a result she is sensitive to the unique needs of adult students and those preparing for new careers. She received an AAS from Jefferson Community College and a BS from the University of New Hampshire, both in Nursing. She earned a Master of Science in Adult Health Nursing with a concentration in gerontology and a certificate in primary care from Syracuse University. Dr. Bourbonniere received a doctorate from the University of Pennsylvania mentored by Dr. Neville Strumpf. She holds a Gerontology Nurse Practitioner Certificate from the University of Pennsylvania as well. Following the completion of doctoral study, Dr. Bourbonniere was among the first national cohort to be named a John A. Harford Foundation "Building Academic Geriatric Nursing Capacity" Postdoctoral Scholar. She was also awarded an Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality Institutional National Research Service Award through Brown University. This rigorous training in geriatric health services and policy research was jointly mentored by Neville Strumpf, PhD, RN, C, FAAN of Penn's Center for Gerontologic Nursing Science and Vincent Mor, PhD of Brown's Center for Gerontology and Health Care Research.
Dr. Bourbonniere enjoys the interdisciplinary nature of gerontology nursing practice, education, and research. She looks forward to sharing her enthusiasm and skills with the YSN community to develop future leaders in health care for older adults.
