A group of Yale University School of Nursing students organized a neighborhood cleanup and barbecue for the residents of the Church Street South apartments, a housing project located one block from YSN.
The event was organized by YSN's Student Diversity Action Committee (SDAC), with support from Assistant Professor and SDAC faculty advisor Angelina Chambers and Associate Dean Barbara Guthrie.
The day drew around 20 volunteers and 75 residents, and began with a clean-up of the courtyard. Volunteers then planted flowers donated by area garden centers. The event ended with a barbecue and outdoor activities.
SDAC also cosponsored the Healthy Neighbors Day event at the apartments in February.
