Alumna Marie Bakitas is Primary Author on JAMA Lead Article

YSN alumna Marie Bakitas, DNSc '06, APRN, is the primary author for the lead article in the Journal of the America Medical Association (JAMA) this week. Bakitas led a 5-year randomized controlled trial to determine the effect of a nurse-led intervention on patients with advanced cancer.

Bakitas completed her post doc work at YSN in 2008. She is an Assistant Professor at Dartmouth Medical School. Reference: "Effects of a Palliative Care Intervention on Clinical Outcomes in Patients With Advanced Cancer: The Project ENABLE II Randomized Controlled Trial," JAMA. 2009;302(7):741-749.
