Predoctoral Fellow Xianhong Li Wins Life Sciences Prize

Xianhong Li, a former predoctoral fellow at YSN for the academic year 2007-2008, received the Ray Wu Prize for Excellence in Life Sciences. The prize was established to inspire Asia's most promising young PhD students to become future leaders in life sciences. Ms. Li continues her work on HIV drug adherence and public education in South Central China. She is pictured here with YSN Professor Ann Williams.

Ms. Li graduated from China's School of Nursing Central South University, where she continues her PhD study in nursing. According to the Ray Wu Fund site, "her work focuses on the sociology of AIDS care, particularly on AIDS-related stigma and discrimination in south central China. She has designed clever ways to distribute anti-HIV drugs to ensure treatment adherence. The prize committee recognizes her work on social issues related to the treatment of AIDS as original and intelligent. She has found innovative ways to distribute the drugs and involved TV media to effectively educate the public."
